Part-Time Career Services Assistant: Career Services Department
Critique resumes for students and other patrons; provide office and programmatic support to the Career Services Department.
Responsibilities: (non-inclusive)
- Meet individually with patrons to review their resumes. Conduct resume critiques and advisement regarding resume development, resume revisions cover letter writing. Provide advisement regarding interviewing techniques on an as needed basis. Conduct classroom presentations on resume and cover letter writing as requested.
- Assist with the creation informational reference materials regarding the job seeking process. Maintain and efficiently store document examples, reference materials, etc. the Career Services Portal, Teams and other departmental repositories.
- Assist with the monitoring and updating of the Career Services Portal as related services and use by students, alumni and community members.
- Perform other general office duties to support the department. Provide assistance with various programs, projects and events sponsored by the department including job fairs, grant projects, on-campus recruitment initiatives, etc.
Qualifications:
Education/Training and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, communications, counseling, psychology, sociology or a related area preferred.
- A minimum of one year of substantial public contact or customer service that can include general office experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office and English usage; Experience with working with job search and social media platforms is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Abilities to maintain office decorum and confidentiality; operate standard office equipment; perform routine and detailed tasks in an accurate and efficient manner; work independently; maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
Physical Activity Level:
- Light – sit, bend, stand and walk, lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a grant-funded, non-continuing part-time (up to 20 hours per week) position with a firm starting pay of $17.30/hour plus non-insurance benefits. This position is scheduled to begin work on February 10, 2025, through May 9, 2025.
