Junior AV / Smart Home Installation Technician

J.Patrick Audio + Video | Wickliffe, OH

Full-time | $19–$26 per hour, based on experience

Enjoy working with your hands and figuring out how technology works? J.Patrick Audio + Video is looking for a dependable, motivated Junior Technician to join our installation team.

Think of this as blue-collar IT: hands-on work installing the wiring, equipment, and technology that power smart homes and businesses. You’ll work on active construction sites and in finished homes, run cable, mount equipment, and learn to connect, configure, and troubleshoot systems.

We provide on-site training. You bring your own basic tool setup, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. Previous AV experience is helpful, but you don’t need to arrive as an expert.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with installing TVs, speakers, projectors, cameras, and smart home equipment.
  • Run and label low-voltage wiring on new construction and existing-home projects.
  • Learn to install, configure, and troubleshoot audio/video, networking, lighting control, and security systems.
  • Work from ladders and occasionally in attics or other tight spaces.
  • Help keep job sites clean, organized, and safe.
  • Learn to read project plans, wiring diagrams, and equipment instructions.
  • Record your time accurately and communicate progress or issues to the lead technician.
  • Treat customers’ homes with care and help customers understand how to use their systems.

What we’re looking for

  • A willingness to learn, take direction, ask questions, and build technical skills.
  • Dependability, punctuality, attention to detail, and pride in your work.
  • Comfort using basic hand and power tools.
  • Your own basic tool setup is required, including tools such as a tape measure, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters/strippers, and a cordless drill/driver. We’ll review the expected setup during the interview.
  • Readiness for physical installation work, including carrying equipment, climbing ladders, bending, and working on construction sites.
  • A professional, respectful attitude with customers and teammates.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Experience in construction, electrical work, low-voltage wiring, networking, or hands-on technical projects is a plus.

Schedule and benefits

  • Monday–Friday (Open 8 am - 4 pm) typically eight-hour shifts, with overtime as needed.
  • In-person work at customer job sites, with travel between sites in company vehicles.
  • Paid time off, health insurance, and additional employee benefits.
  • Hands-on training and the opportunity to build a skilled trade career in AV and smart home technology.
