Event to Benefit End 68 Hours of Hunger Lake County
CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio, August 10, 2016—If you can hike, you can help eradicate child hunger in Lake County. Hit the trail with your family and friends on August 19 for the first annual Hike for Hunger to raise money and collect canned food donations to support End 68 Hours of Hunger Lake County. The event is being sponsored by Lake Health and Lake Metroparks.
End 68 Hours of Hunger Lake County is a private, not-for-profit effort to address the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive at school Friday afternoon and the free breakfast they receive at school Monday morning.
The fun and interactive event, which is open to all ages, will be held at 6:30 pm at Chapin Forest Ski Center located at 10381 Hobart Road in Kirtland. The 2.2-mile guided hike through scenic Chapin Forest will include multiple stops along the way highlighting impressive geological points of interest.
Hike for Hunger will be held rain or shine. Cost is $5 for children, $10 for adults or $20 for families. Registration is required by calling the Best of Health Line at 440-953-6000 or 800-454-9800. Participants will receive a free cinch bag for donating at least one canned food item.
